Consolidation has also contributed to larger executive compensation, along with a widening income divide between them and employees. Local and regional companies probably do not have presidents or other top executives earning multimillion-dollar salaries. Large corporations are not inherently bad, but some drift away from innovation to a focus on being in a position of power over others, where the end justify the means.
In my opinion, we need a rebirth–an American Renaissance–in our economy. A return to a business culture where growth was defined as an individual or group having an idea for a product and service and providing an environment for this idea to flourish. Regulation, taxation, the Justice Department and the FTC should be used to promote an economic environment of competition, innovation, and independence and challenge factors that allow market domination by a few to gradually creep in. The key here is to simply provide an environment for competition, then let the markets take it from there. It does not mean that the feds should financially prop up failing businesses.
My purpose with this site is alert you to the ongoing “consolidation creep” when it is off the radar of your daily lives and why is not in the best interests of the Main Streets throughout this country. In other words:
WAKE UP AMERICA!
I will also provide links to source material to support these ideas. I will also, from time to time, post articles on other subjects that strike a desire within in me to go in a different direction.
Thank you.
